December 31, 1954 - November 26, 2020
Tommy Lynn Brooks, 65, of Batesville, passed from this life Thursday, November 26, 2020. He was born December 31, 1954 in Bradford, Arkansas to the late Virgil and Ruby Brown Brooks. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Stacey Brooks, and daughter, Shania (Logan) Geurian; four grandchildren, Devin Sullivan, Jada Brooks, Waylon Brooks, and Naomi Geurian; one brother, Glen (Linda) Brooks; nieces, Melanie Brooks, Michelle Brooks, and Lori Betts; nephews, Brian Brooks, Dorsey Brooks, and David Wallace Sr.; great nieces, Cora Faye and Laken Wallace; great nephews, David Wallace Jr. and Braiden Brooks, along with other family, friends, and loved ones. (Written by Stacey Brooks)“Dad” “My dad was the true meaning of everything a son could wish for. He is a real true hero to me. He always had a way to fix anything and never hesitated. He was always there whenever, wherever. He was the kind of guy that would get up and go for other people even when he wasn’t able to and he never asked for anything in return. He was a very kind and loving man. He also truly loved his family, all of his family, and you didn’t want on the mad side of this kind and loving man by hurting anybody in his family. He was a very hard worker and always provided for his family. He did whatever it took to make sure his family had everything they needed even if he had to go without and I have seen him go without with a smile on his face. You couldn’t ask for a better friend, brother, father. or grandfather than my dad. He was a perfect example of a perfect dad. That’s who my dad was. I love and miss you very much dad. I will see you later. Love your son, Stacey.” (Written by Shania Geurian) “They say “Those who can, do, those who can’t do, teach.” The only reason Tommy Brooks wasn’t a teacher was because he was too busy doing. He was always doing and he did all that he did in love. Love for his family, love for his friends, but most importantly, love for the Lord. He worked to provide for his family. Some jobs he loved and some he didn’t, but he applied himself just the same. Colossians 3:23 He played to bring joy to those around him. He knew how to make anyone laugh no matter what they or he may have been going through. When he was young, well, I have heard some stories. When he was older, I had the privilege of living some of the best stories. He played with me even when he was hurting and tired and together we found joy in the ordinary. Philippians 4:11. He fought to protect those he loved and to protect what he believed in. He faced enemies upon enemy and never backed down. His strength and bravery were matched only by his love and compassion. Nehemiah 4:14. Those who say “Those who can, do and those who can’t, teach”, never had the privilege of knowing my dad. He was the greatest teacher I ever met because he taught with his actions. He taught with his life. Thank you, dad, for all the many lessons. They will be passed on forever., Love, Shania.” (Written by Glen Brooks)“Tommy Lynn Brooks is the youngest of the three Brooks boys. He had a difficult start but did not let that stop him whatsoever. His two older brothers, Glen and William, knew to back off when they tried to get him to do anything he did not want to do. He would not be pushed and had a temper to back that up. Glen, the oldest, tried to look after the two younger ones and after he and Tommy lost William, they grew closer. After losing his beloved wife, Rita, he moved to Bethesda to be closer to Glen and his family. Anyone seeing Tommy and Glen and their two sons, Stacey and Brian, know that they are all family. Tommy loved his solitude but enjoyed going to family dinners for Thanksgiving, Christmas, barbeques, and boat rides on the river. He loved his Lord and liked to study his Bible. He enjoyed watching old western movies and his grandkids. He enjoyed anything with a motor, whether it was driving big trucks, tinkering with small engines, and even mowing his lawn. He especially liked driving around his blue truck, the one Rita drove. His favorite food was cheesecake, and he liked the strawberry freezer jam his sister in law, Linda, made. He said it was good on anything. He’s a good dad, pop pop, papa, brother, and faithful friends. We love him. Glen and Linda Brooks.” He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Ruby Brown Brooks; his loving wife, Rita Brooks; grandson, Allan Brooks; and one brother, William Brooks. Visitation is Monday, November 30, 2020 at 1:00pm with services at 2:00pm at Bradford Memorial Funeral home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Bradford Memorial Funeral Home of Bradford, Arkansas. www.bradfordmemorial.com
