Norman Earl Hardin

Norman Earl Hardin, age 84, lost his battle with cancer and left this life on June 10 at his home in Pleasant Plains, AR. Born on December 4, 1931 at Oil Trough, AR, he was the 7th son of George Richard and Lula Iva (Davis) Hardin. Norman was honored to serve 4 years on the USS Iowa in the Navy during the Korean War and was instrumental in establishing the Pleasant Plains VFW Post 10007. He was a successful businessman having been self-employed since 1960. He was the owner and operator, along with his wife, of Hardin's Grocery and Service Station at Midway. He was co-owner of E&H Trailer Sales and was a respected cattleman when he retired in 1994. He enjoyed playing jokes on his family and friends, telling stories, playing cards, and he loved to go fishing. He was a member of Independence Missionary Baptist Church. Norman is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hazel (Stout) Hardin of the home. One son, Gary Hardin; one daughter, Beverly and husband, Richard Moss; one brother, Herschel Hardin; three grandchildren, Jerrad Hardin and wife Julia, Shelby Hardin and wife Sara, and Misty King and husband Brandon. He is survived by six great- grandchildren, Hannah Hardin, Ethan and Brandon Hardin, Cole King, and Jackson and Cameron Hardin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Leonard, Lyman, Harold, Arthur, and Eldon Hardin. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Independence Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains, AR. Interment to follow at Browns Cemetery in Thida, AR.
