John Stephen Cox, 62, of Oil Trough passed from this life Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at his home. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee May 29, 1958 to the late Vester and Billiette Gould Cox. John served on the Oil Trough Fire Department as well as serving as a Constable. He enjoyed many activities including fishing, shooting sports, and four-wheeler riding as long as they involved his youngest son Peyton. Peyton was his world in recent years. John was a true fighter and overcame several different battles with cancer. John is survived by his wife, caretaker, and best of friend, Jennifer Robertson Cox; children, Carrie Cox, Michael Cox, and Peyton Cox; grandchildren, Kayla Castillo, Ashley Havens, Tyler Cox, Blake Headstream, Trey Cox, and Kaleb Cox; great grandchildren, Kloe Castillo, Sophia Castillo, Raelynn Havens, Kesleigh Havens, Aidan Headstream; niece, Angie Cox Shackleford; nephews, JD Cox and Jason Cox; a brother, Vester Darnell Cox; his best friend and caretaker, Stephen Mankus; and several other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandmother, Grace Gould; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Ethel Cox; and a brother, Gerald Wayne Cox. Visitation is 10am Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Southside with the funeral service following at 11am. Interment is in Maple Springs Cemetery.
