Barbara Thornton Robertson May 9, 1937- Sep 7, 2019 Barbara Robertson, 82, went Home after a hard-fought battle with Dementia. Barbara was born May 9, 1937, near Farmer, TX, to James Clayton and Rosalie Jay Thornton. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Robertson, Dec 20, 1955. Barbara and Jim lived in Barbara’s childhood home and raised their three kids there on the farm. Barbara worked professionally as an accountant and bookkeeper at Lorenzo Textile Mills and at Williams Appliance in Lubbock. Barbara was a skilled artist with a pen, a paintbrush or a needle. Her family is graced with her award-winning pen and ink drawings and paintings. Her skills as a seamstress blessed her family with homemade quilts, embroidered tea towels, pillows and an assortment of beautiful handmade goods. Her quilting skills were amazing and very proficient as her beautiful work was shared generously as gifts. In 2000, she copied and made a replica of a quilt her grandmother made in 1900, using quilt pieces her grandmother had cut, making an exquisite art quilt. Barbara was a member of the Idalou Church of Christ. She is survived by her brother Dick Thornton and wife Claudia of Lubbock, TX; son Bill Robertson and wife Carey of Bradford, AR; daughter Margaret and husband John of Bulverde, TX; and son Al and wife Amy of Lubbock TX; Beloved Grandchildren- Rachel, Jay, Stacey, Clay, Angel, John & Joel; and 8 precious Great Grandchildren. She enjoyed many years of friendship with Jane Ann and enjoyed their great adventures together. She treasured her caretakers who held a special place in her heart- Deidre and Kristy. Private Graveside Services will be held Oct 26 in Estacado Cemetery in Lubbock County Texas. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choosing or to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
